Simpson Group specialises in the design and production of printed POS and POP and are an award winning POP industry leader. They have two site locations, one in Washington and one in Heathrow.

Project Description:

Negotiated contract for relocation and amalgamation of existing office and production facilities from two sites to one site. 85,000 sq ft facility including 25,000 office/mock mall, 60,000 sq ft production unit, external works and associated services. The client required a facility with an impressive entrance/office area to give the right impression to his clients. Part of this included the provision of a 'mock shopping mall' within the office area where the client's goods could be displayed in surroundings similar to the end position.

To address transport issues, Henry Riley also negotiated to have a bus stop relocated outside the main entrance complex, with no resulting cost implications. In addition, we recommended the provision for a covered cycle rack, which was less than 0.01 per cent of the total construction value. The works were completed one month ahead of schedule.

Sustainability:

  • "Very Good" BREEAM rating
  • PIRS in all hand basins and toilets to reduce water consumption. Small capital cost was expected to be recovered in three years.
  • Highest insulation standards were incorporated to reduce energy consumption

Key Challenges:

  • The site was contaminated with shale unsuitable for construction. Our work included negotiating with the land owner (English Partnership) in connection with the costs for remediation.
