Project Description:

The Millbrook House development was a phased build consisting of a 92 unit Extra Care scheme (Phase 1 - 42 flats; Phase 2 - 45 flats, 2 bungalows and 3 chalet bungalows) with associated communal facilities and external works. The phased completion allowed Sanctuary to maintain use of the existing sheltered housing scheme on the site, before residents were decanted into the new building at the end of phase 1. The scheme is predominantly for social rent, with 20 units to be sold under a shared ownership arrangement.

  • Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) Level 3 for bungalows

Key Challenges:

  • Incorporating the requirements of all stakeholders, including the local residents
  • Development of a confined site and arrangement of a phased programme including the decant of residents into the completed first phase.
  • Managing neighbour relations in a residential area.
