MacNiven and Cameron is a property development company, specializing in mixed-use schemes in London and the South West. It engages in the development of and investment in commercial and residential properties.
Project Description:
Residential development for 2 and 3 bed houses and apartments on a site between a railway line and a row of existing terraced housing, with a new access distributor road and parking. The scheme was very controversial in the local community and faced strong opposition from local residents. Arc's role was to liaise with the planning authority, produce various feasibility proposals for the site and assist the client with public consultation.
Key Challenges:
- Proximity to railway / liaising with Network Rail
- There are a number of mature, protected trees on the site which we had to design around
- Had to consider overlooking from existing houses
- The strength of the opposition from local residents
