Project Description:
RCPM were employed on the project to provide the following services:
- Defining project brief with multi-headed client team.
- Management of team of Consultants to ensure compliance with Due Diligence and Planning Application/Approval.
- Provision of Programme & Risk Management.
- Administration of Change Control Process on design fees, surveys, etc.
Works included:
- Managing site identification process, giving clarification of high level parameters.
- Managing multiple site due diligence processes including appointment of consultants and negotiations with site vendors and developers.
- Managing selected site due diligence processes to final production of report to support approved client business case.
- Manage information transfer and change control within approved business case to ensure robust process.
- Ensuring that major site issues in connection with power, fibre, etc were confirmed by third parties
- Providing procurement route options for the final delivery of the project, including design options
- Managing delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment, Sustainability Statement and Energy Strategy.
Key Challenges:
- Client required twin site operation, therefore distance was a constraint for the second of the data centres.
- Design constraints already defined by first project of the pair, which had to be agreed successfully with LPA.
- Planning process had to be actively managed to achieve the correct permission.
