Demonstration Laboratory, Skempton Building
The project comprised construction of a science education demonstration laboratory and presentation room within the Skempton Building for a high profile initiative at Imperial College London. ESP was engaged for full design and consulting duties by Imperial College London as part of a Riley Consulting One-Stop-Shop package including quantity surveying and architectural services to deliver the facility which involved the alteration of an existing building. As the facility was unique, it was necessary for us to engage with the project initiators, project director and Imperial College London facilities team to ensure that we could meet the strict criteria set down. The design process also involved compliance with Imperial College London's strict design requirements and approvals sign off process.
The facility included a user specific bench layout to assist teaching and one which we were instrumental in agreeing. Fume cupboards were also included in the facility along with prep areas and ablutions.
Chemistry Laboratory
The project comprised reconfiguring the existing chemistry laboratory to provide improved demonstration and prep areas.
The scheme involved the alteration of existing building arrangements and included new fume cupboards, laboratory benches, storage and prep areas.
