bmi - Flagship International Business Lounge - Heathrow Airport

bmi Lounge

Services: Cost Management, Project Management

bmi is the second largest airline at London Heathrow, one of the world's busiest and best-connected international airports. From Heathrow they operate services in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

Project Description:

Appointed to provide project and cost consultancy for the design, development and delivery of a 900m2 lounge converting the new concept, 900m2 CIP lounge for customers on international flights.

It incorporates a number of unique deisgn features, such as the grand reception area with it's curved polished plaster wall and classic 'Tom Dixon' wing chairs. Business facilities are provided in the form of 6 touchdown bureaux, free access PCs and a large 'boardroom' table, while food and drink offerings come from the impressive curved kitchen café (illustrated) and the original cast iron Aga ranges. 'The Local' - an authentic zinc topped bar with a direct outlook over the runway provides stronger refreshments while those needing to relax can enjoy the 'Living Room' or one of the many clusters of lounge seating.

Key Challenges:

  • Extremely tight timescales requiring strip out of the previous lounge and fit out of the new lounge within a 16 week window.
  • Extensive landlord liaisons and negotiations in  connection with relocations necessary to facilitate the project.

Form of Contract: JCT 2005 Traditional
