Environmental Policy
Inevitably our operations have environmental impacts. Our policy is to proactively minimise these impacts wherever possible and to encourage responsible management of wider environmental issues.
We are working to align our environmental management system with the requirements of ISO 14001. We also work to help our clients achieve their own environmental and corporate responsibility objectives.
We have the following environmental management policy objectives:
Internal operations
- Develop measures and set targets for our overall environmental performance - including identifying our significant environmental impacts.
- Conserve energy through minimizing consumption and maximizing efficiency. We are examining our use of energy and production of CO2 emissions and have a goal of achieving a 5 per cent reduction in carbon emissions . We are actively considering increasing this to bring it into alignment with the 10:10 UK initiative.
- Utilise public transport wherever practicable when on the firm's business e.g. when visiting sites.
- Recognise and encourage the contribution every employee can make towards improving the company's environmental performance and provide appropriate training for our employees.
- Put in place procedures and support information that enables compliance with laws, regulations and codes of practice including those relating to environmental issues.
- Select an office champion in each of our office locations to assist in the implementation of this policy and help to promote its integration into our business systems.
Work with clients
- Liaise with our clients on all potential environmental and sustainability issues on their projects and report on the impact as applicable to our appointment.
- Promote prudent environmental practice in design.
- Regularly review adherence to this policy and identify areas for continued improvement.
- At project level, we are committed to the WRAP scheme to halve waste going to landfill. We are currently investigating appropriate tools and collecting benchmark data to help clients set and meet waste targets for their projects.
We link this policy to our wider CSR practices to ensure our environmental actions are both socially and economically sustainable and producing real improvements.
